dryer balls save 25% drying time
has anyone seen these advertised. they look like a dogs chew toy, roundish and spiky made of what looks like rubber. you throw them into the dryer and they are suppose to make the clothes soft and reduce the drying time. i've seen them advertised at london drugs and another brand at linen 'n' things. at ld they were about 18. dollars cdn, and at lnt they were around 14. i don't spend alot on dryer sheets (thanks to lerking around here i found i like to cut the big sheets into smaller ones and a quarter sheet is more than enough to get rid of static, add freshness, and soften), but the idea that intrigues me is the claim of saving dryer time. we already have a sensor and i set the dryer on damp dry sometimes. i'm not set up to hang clothes to dry...so i'm thinking if it's true that you can save that much drying time, the balls would eventually pay for themselves (except that they say they last 2 years...and then you would have to buy more). they come with 2 in a box for that price, i think you use them both, but maybe just one at a time...not sure.
any comments would be great! and if i try or you try them maybe we could share the results here, so others could see if they are worth the money.

I've seen them on tv, but I'm really not familiar with them. It will interesting to read if someone else owns any of them.

I use them also, have had them for about 6 months. I like them, they seem to fluff stuff up (towels). I haven't really noticed them making things dry faster though. I usually just turn on my dryer and get the clothing when it is at the end of it's cycle. I have no idea if the clothing dried completly 10 minutes before the dryer stopped or 2 minutes... HTH

I've never even heard of these things. It's an interesting concept. I'm not sure I would pay for them though. $14 -$16 seems like a lot just to get something fluffier and now I am wondering if tennis balls would do the job since they work on down comforters and coats,etc...

If you order from LTD Commodities or ABC Distributing (I think they're the same company) you can get them for 6.95 plus whatever shipping costs are. So that might save (especially if you're already ordering something from them). I saw them earlier tonight when I was looking online at their catalogs. I didn't order any though. I'd like to hear how they work though.

I've never heard of them before now. It seems like they would fluff the laundry more than make it dry quicker.

I've seen them at trade shows...they run anywhere between $15 - $20 for a set of two and the lady told me the same thing. Yes they do look like dog chew toys, they're anti static, they dont have a scent for those with sensitive skin and they last about 2 yrs depending on how often you use them. The way I calculated it a box of 250 Bounce Sheets is approx $7? (been a while since I bought a box) or Costco brand 2 pk x 200/each = 400 sheets for $11.50. The scent is lighter then Bounce and is difference and if you cut those up even smaller you get more mileage out of them. I think the dyer sheets are a better value unless you're allergic to the scent which is half the reason why I buy some things

For me it makes sense to use dryer sheets - only time I do use them is when I wash bedding and blankies in which case, yes I want them very soft and 'Bounce' smelling to get that comfy feeling. Otherwise I hang dry my laundry to save money. And iffin we're all trying to be frugal I think its best not to buy those balls (tee hee I said balls! LMFAO) and just air dry the clothes. The amount of dryer loads that you do actually do b/c its either raining or time constraints will not be equal to the value of those balls. (hahahaha I said it again!)
Look more bouncey balls! ROFL Ok today Im off my rocker - dont mind me
