Post I got my electric bill... down $3, what about yours?

I got my ebill for my electric and each month is it actual, the guys comes here and does his reading... I am down from $56 last month to $53 this month, not bad, every penny counts.

I am just proud of myself, my siggy even says I want to get my electric bill down and so far so good.

    What was your bill?

We are on the budget plan. It's $271/month, but because our bill wasn't near that much, we have a $150 credit built up already.

I agree with you, every penny does count! I think you are doing a great job!!

Ours went down too! Thank goodness!! It was 417, now it is 338, but 150 of it was a reconnect fee that I think should not have been billed to us. Our power lines fell last month during strong wind and they charged us to come and reconnect it!! How unfair is that!!! I didn't even have anything to do with the wind blowing and nothing fell across it to make it fall either.

Michelle, that isn't fair at all, can you fight it since it wasn't your fault?

How does one get on a budget plan?

We tried, but they said that since it was the line that ran to our meter that it was our problem. If it would have been any other line, we wouldn't have been billed. I still say it is dumb!

I know our company offers a budget plan, but we aren't on it. Anyway, I think you should contact your company and ask if they offer one. We have TXU Energy and I can view their plans online. If you have a larger company that has online service, you may be able to check online to see what is offered.

Your state should have something akin to a Public Utility Commission. I'd file a complaint with them. You have nothing to lose...

My bill is up again....I have been too lax lately. I am ready to nip this in the bud starting with unplugging the dryer as of today.

How did you manage to get yours so low? I am jealous, I would love to have mine that low.

I honestly don't know. I usually have the tv on most of the day, but that's about it for electricity...except of course for the fridge, etc... I'm extremely anal when it comes to keeping the lights off though. Like this morning.... the sun isn't up yet and it'll be pretty dark all day with the rain, so I have quite a few candles going. I do this in the evening too. It drives DH nuts. He says it's like living in a cave... lol.... but I like it
