Oil Heat Fill-Up
i just got my first fill up since March for 148 gallons! I'm quite happy since last year we had our first fill up in September for 140 gallons. So we went 2 more months for basically using the same about of oil! (we use oil for our hotwater)
Now the bad part........I prepaid for $2.499 a gallon for a total of $370, Yikes!
Now I have a total of 452 gallons left of prepay until April. I hope I can stretch it out!
Last year we used electric space heaters to supplement the heat but this year we wont be using them since my new puppy decided to chew the cord on one of them while it was plugged in! Luckily he didnt get hurt but we decided that it is better to be safe and wait it out a year. Hopefully he will outgrow his urge to chew by next year!

Wow that's awesome, I am sure you can make it last till April for sure. We filled up a few weeks ago just 150 gallons, but we haven't turned the heat on yet and I dont plan to either, so for now it just heats up the water.
Glad to hear the puppy didn't get hurt

I can't remember when we got our last fill up, it was at least two months ago. But, I'm hoping we won't have to use the oil at all this winter and the only other thing we use oil for is the hot water. So, hopefully I won't need another fill up for a long time! LOL

We don't have oil, but propane and it's running around $2.10-$2.39 a gallon. We've got a 500 gallon tank, and it hits hard when it's filled yearly. Thankfully, my husband was able to install a wood furnace last year to help out with out heating bills, and it cut our propane bill in half.

we have oil heat to and I surely wish there was a place to put up a wood stove I could not use it much cause of my lungs but just enough to help knock the chil off a bit would help.I noticed that when we bought this place that was the only drawback, dont know why anybody would build a house without at least one extra flu lol
but my question is this, would it be easier on using oil if I cut the heat way down for a few hours during the day then later turn it?
ty in advance
