    Default Bringing down electric bill

Ok, I am determined to bring my bill down.

    My 11/1/06 bill is $150.19.

I'm trying not to use the dryer, shut lights off when not needed etc.
Let's see how much I can bring it down for the 12/1 bill.
    Then we have Christmas!! LOL

Thanks. After I made the post, though, I said oh shoot!
Our pump has been running almost consistently for 2 or 3 days now because of all the rains!

But, maybe at the very least, whatever I do to bring the bill down, will even it out instead of making it more! LOL

i got an electricity bill in august ago for $320 - it was one of the things that got me started on frugal living (and how i found this site). it was over the winter period, but not much of an excuse as we have gas heating (you should have seen THAT bill!). so i went wild and turned off all the lights, switched everything off at night and stopped using the dryer. i've been careful about cooking things together and not being wastful.

i got the next bill yesterday, it was $71

compared to the same period as last year, its two thirds lower - i'm very happy with that.

i have recently received some free long life light globes, and so i will start replacing my globes and see if that helps even further.

    good luck with your bills!

Well, my December bill went UP to $195 and I was floored!!!

But I just got the new bill today and I"m happy to announce it is down to $140!! That doesn't include my changing some lightbulbs to energy smart ones. Each week I'm going to replace a few until every light has one.

So, I guess perserverance DOES payoff! I felt like giving up when I saw last months bill, but didn't.

This can so totally be done!! I'm working on getting ours down, too. Then once it's paid up, I'm going to start sending in a bit extra every month so this summer, when we urn the ac, it won't be sooo bad! Our Sept. bill was almost $280, last month was $82, and I'm trying to beat that! Turning off the lights, line-drying clothes(even though it's a gas dryer), and not using the oven if the microwave or the toaster oven will do. I also read about "phantom drain"(where things use electricity even when they're off) and am working on fixing that by unplugging the things I rarely use until I need them. I already have flourescent bulbs in almost all the fixtures, though I think the savings there is more cumulative than immediate. That's ok--I'll take it lol!!

Back during the summer my bill was $450.00 for 2 months (I about fell of my chair)... when I read the bill it stated that there was $150.00 delivery charge.. something I never seened before.. we only have one electric company..so it's not like we have a choice..whatever they want to do they can...everybody I spoke to didn't know how they were gonna be able to pay it...I guess I was lucky compared to some whose bill was over $550.00...I have lived here for 9yrs and have never had a bill higher then $270.00...Our average bill is $120.00 a month...However at least in my area I heard on the radio that alot of areas are gonna be hit hard with increased Energy bills..they stated that the Electric company hasn't raised their rates in quite a few years now..I try to make sure that everything is turned off when not in use...wash in cold water and so on..
