The smell of burning dust

Was lying in bed this morning and smelled the baseboards. I never turn these on and hubby knows better. Then I heard the pop and snap, and jumped out of bed to find them on I quickly checked the thermostat..and started cussing hubby, but no...they were all the way down. It suddenly hit me that it must be below 40 degrees upstairs...they kicked on automatically. I then went into the spare room and that one was a chugging away too. I was perfectly comfy under all my blankets...no fair. Luckily it was about 10 degrees warmer downstairs and those weren't on. I checked the temp. outside and it was 18 degrees. Were supposed to have these cold temps for at least a week

What a way to wake up!! If the smell doesn't go away soon, maybe put a cotton ball soaked in vanilla in them (or in front of them). Sorry it's so cold they turned on to begin with--our winter here in MI has been nonexistant this year. Makes it easier on the gas bill!!
