Thumbs down Electric Bill ( Plain Stupid )

I was goin g through my electric bill today. My Bill is $237.00
for one month. Total KHW usage $57.69.
All the rest is tax or a surcharges or taxes on surcharges.
Insurance because they send us a bill and and extra charge to send the bill.
I keep lights and tvs off. unplug everything I can but with just surcharges and tax on surcharges I can not get it down
    It just makes me furious.

Whoa! That's a high bill but I guess you have a lot of consumption due to where you live.

Are you saying that $179.31 of you electric bill was just fees and surcharges?
    That's outrageous.

That seems odd, we don't even have surcharges on our electric bill, what are these for. I think I would be calling the company and asking for an explanation. On my bill I am charged my kw usage, a basic customer fee, sales tax in my state, and I have fees for my outdoor lighting. Though I must admit that I am upset with my bill this month, it is higher than last month and I have been making sure lights are off, days I put an extra layer of clothes on and left heat off, and I bought clothes racks to hang stuff on to dry.

    I feel ya.
Our bill is $434 (thank goodness for the budget plan, we pay $271).
Of that, only $258 is actual gas/electricity usage! That's $175 is taxes, surcharges, delivery charges, and misc. fees.

wow! that's ridiculous. our bills are combined gas and electric here, we pay about 40/month in taxes, surcharges, and service fee. then our bill is split up electric delivery and supply and gas delivery and supply. my bill is 227 on the budget billing.

Wow! Our total gas and electric for the last month was $250 combined. Amazing since that is what we budget for gas and electric...

    Shaking head in disbelief.

Holy Smokes!!! Id call them, something sounds iffy there and I think that with the small amount u actually used and the all the surcahrges being so high. I think they may be ripping you off. Call them and find out what it actually means and look at their website or the back of the bill should break it down.

How awful. Our bill this month was $162. About $13 of fees and the rest is the electric at about 9 cents per kwh.

I would definatly call. I know that my bills, the fees are usually just as much as the bill. Meaning if I have $50 in khw useage, the taxes would also be around $50, bringing it up to $100. I would check it out.
