    Default Stupid Colorado

The council recently passed a thing. It's called the Stormwater enterprise and essentially everyone in town that owns a home has to pay a tax on the size of their roof. To fund more building projects. So if you have a house you are taxed on your property and then on pieces of that property as well...seperately. So you are taxed on your house, then on parts of your house too. Got a shed? If it has a roof you get taxed some more...garage? same deal. grrrrrrr and who is paying the tax that is levied on the municipal and etc roofs? us, the tax payers. were getting taxed to death!

That stinks. I'm glad we don't have that kind of tax here. We have a large shed and also a smaller shed.

No offense but I think that is crazy, it isn't fair and it never is for any of us taxpayers in any state for that matter, gosh I am sorry, take a deep breath.

How dumb. If the shed or garage didnt have a roof then would they be a shed or a garage?

house too for that matter. They were saying on the news that this TAX will fund this and that, this TAX is gonna benefit blah, blah. Then in the next breath they say it isn't a tax. It's a enterprise.

That sounds stupid! You would think that paying property taxes would be enough.

So let me get this straight...they tax your property, and then the house on top of the property, and then the roof on top of the house. Okay...that doesn't sound like a big pile of at ALL. I thought there were supposed to be laws in place to protect citizens from double-taxation. What's next? They're going to tax your windows to fund a greenhouse gas "enterprise?" It's ridiculous. I'm sorry your state passed such a silly tax.

That is a stupid tax. It got me to thinking if I lived there, would they tax me on my rabbit's outside house? It is a huge structure we had specially made complete with two "bedrooms", shingles on the roof etc...

I totally agree with you on this one! Seems we're taxed on everything, what is our world coming to?

Did they say how they are going to charging? Amount per sq. ft? or is there a set amount? I honestly think this whole idea is crazy but all the states care about is getting more money and paying people to collect these taxes through our/your taxes dollars.

About 2-3 years ago here, the police department envaded someones home and threw ones of those like sack toss things in the window, it caught on fire and burned the house down, so our taxes went up because we had to pay for their mistakes and lawsuits, we never win.

So if you had a 1000 sq foot bungalow you would pay as much "roof tax" as a 2000 sq foot 2 story because the roof would be the same size. That's dumb.
