Default When do you turn your a/c on?

Well, I did it, I turned the a/c on yesterday! It rained for 3 days, then the rain slacked off and it was humid, yet I still didn't turn the air on. Then we had friends come in from out of town yesterday and my sister, her roomate and their three toddlers came over we had a house full! Somewhere in the midst of chasing toddlers, sweeping up the mud being tracked in by the hoard of kids, and wiping the sweat from my brow, I screamed, "Someone help me close all the windows so I can turn the air on!"
A window slamming frenzie ensued, then an hour later....cool comfort.
So, I admit, I am weak, I couldn't take it, but I sit here sipping coffee sweat free! Am I the only weak one, or are there more of you out there?

i turned it on last night.
DH and i just couldnt take it we were sweating in bed and its just was way too umcomfortable even with ceiling fans roaring and only a sheet to cover us, no big blankets. we had each showered before bed thinking that we would be able to make it through the night. was not happening. and then of course my cat has the horrible habit of sleeping on my tummy and so... a fourteen and a half pound cat purring away in the hot hot night.. i had to turn it on. i woke up nice and cold this morning. it was beautiful.

i did close all the vents and doors in the rooms that we're not using though and had it on auto so that it wasnt just blasting thru the whole night.

I broke down and turned ours on. It is just way to early. I guess we will try to keep it on a budget, I just hate to pay high electric bills.

Being in the deep south, ours rarely cuts off all year.

I turned our a/c on yesterday. The heat isn't too bad here, but the humidity has been out of sight! I have allergies so I can't open the windows for ventilation. The ceiling fans do help circulate the air, though.

Still not on. We are smartly closing the blinds and windows at the right times and it's holding us over. Soon though, it won't.

It's still cold here(61 today) so the heat is still on. In summer the second floor bedroom get hot so when Dh starts yelping they go on.

We rarely turn ours on.....only when the humidity gets unbearable.

I don't want to turn it on until we come back from our trip in June.It was warm last night, but not unbearable.I want to see the big difference in the electric bill which is usually this month.Yeah!!!We can take the heat better than the cold, thank goodness, because the rates go up(for summer and the AC that goes with it) in June. Not gonna let them stick me any earlier than possible!

I started turning mine on at night last week. The humidity has been horrible. I didn't want to do it but gave in to tropical reality and adjusted my budget for the higher electric bill.

Never...we don't have A/C! Very few houses here have it. In the 3.5 years we've been here, there have maybe been 20 days total that I wished I had air conditioning. Now when I lived in Nebraska, it was on from spring until fall!

We don't turn ours on unless it gets really hot. So it has NOT been on yet.

I had to cave and turn ours on Saturday. It was SO humid, our floors were sticky, I tried to make homemade noodles in my pasta maker and the just turned to mush before I could get them cooked! Too much water in the air, I guess. Even a box of matches, I couldn't get them to strike on the box because the box was soggy from humidity! Welcome to Texas.

It was 80 in the house without the a/c so I set the a/c at 79. Temperature wise it isn't that different, but it took all the humidity out of the house and everyone is much more comfortable. We have had lots of rain the past 2 weeks and more expected, that is why it is so humid. Rain, then 85 degrees outside, then more rain makes for a lot of humidity.

Well, I pretty much have to be dying to turn it on, LOL! It just makes the bills go sky high. My DH wants to turn it on any time he's uncomfortable at all ~ drives me nuts! Today it is supposed to be 91 degrees!!! Can't believe the heat we're getting already, but it isn't supposed to stay this way all week. The inside of the house is really cool right now, so we'll have to wait and see what happens this afternoon.
