But you know, the hotter it gets, the more it runs, and the more power it uses. Keeping it set on the same temp can cost you three times as much at 90+ degrees as at 80+.

I'm almost scared to see my electric bill, it's been so hot, and it seems like the a/c is just constantly running.

You know, we have had the same problem all summer. Of course being both of us in Fl, well you know it gets HOT! Ours has gone from $250 to $400 in the last two months, both months. It is crazy! We don't have the "average" 12 month "plan", oh no, the city hits us as much as they can, here anyway.
We keep our AC around 76-77 in the day and I have been trying to remember to turn it up to even 78 and around 74-75(dh likes it cool) in the evening.
Dh did say something when it is hot and the AC does not cycle it just runs and that jacks up your electric.

I cant imagine a 400 dollar electric bill! The worst mine has ever been is 250 and trust me dont conserve that much. I keep my a/c at 78 all the time but hey girls leave the doors open most of the day and we usualy have all the lights on and two tv plus the computer.

We live in Texas and it is hot. Our AC is set on 71.

My dh has high blood pressure. We he gets too hot we have to go to the ER lol.

Better to pay the electric bill and have us all be comfy than spend a few uncomfortable hours at the hospital!

    So crazy.

Our absolute WORST bill in August runs us about $200. it really isn't bad if you just budget for it but we have been here all our lives so it is just part of living here and it is all we know.
The math never lies, budget in INK!

I hate to see what ours will be next month. We've been running the AC constantly.

Wow. I set my thermostat on 80 during the day when I'm not here, 78 when I get home, 76 at night and run a fan also on me in the bedroom. I've always been a little cold natured.

My light bill was $77 this month, down from $78 last month. I thought it would be higher, because I forgot to turn the a/c up a couple of days when I left. Of course, I only have a 1200 sf house.

I also think that the CFL's helped a lot. This is my first full month for them.

I understand running the AC will jack up the electric bill but not by $100, I would also check on that. We run our AC mostly at night at 77 and sometimes during the day at 75-76 but our bill went up about $20.

Now y'all are making me fearful of our e-bill. I'm still waiting for it to arrive for last month.
