    Default I owe the gas company 51 cents

    LOL, I got the bill and owe 51 cents. I had overpaid two months ago and didn't owe anything last month either. Good thing because I didn't have the money with extra people living here. Over all our gas bill is down this summer from a year ago. Woo Hoo!

    No, they no longer have an office in the area. Darn! I am going to over pay it this month though, because winter is coming and I am not looking forward to the higher bills.

    As for my strategy. All we did was change out our old furnace for a newer electronic ignition model, and I no longer have a gas dryer. I can't believe how much the pilot lights were eating up in gas over the summer months. The only gas we use now, in the summer, is for cooking or in the water heater. My average gas usage over the summer is 20 therms a month, or about $30 a month. This month the usage went up 4 therms because we have done more laundry. Last year we averaged 40 therms a month. I am much happier. Now if I could just get my electric bill to go down by half I would be happy.
