I can relate! It's still the noon hour and it's already 97 degrees with high humidity. I'll be afraid to open the electric bill when it arrives.

I am right there with you also. Ours has not cut off in at least 4 weeks. It has been running 24/7. DH said he is afraid it may just give out if this keeps up. Not only do we have the central A/C running, but ceiling fans and regular fans in every room too.
My power bill is onthe budget plan and we pay $290 a month. Had we not been on the budget plan, it would have been almost $500 for July. I am anxious to see what the bill for August says.
We are on day 16 in a row of above 100* temps and the humidity is so bad. This is by far the hottest year here ever. We have broken high temp records 9 days and they said we may break another todayDD (19)

It's blistering here in Louisiana too, but my electric bill actually went down a few dollars this month -- I just got the bill a few days ago. Must be because my dryer conked out. I guess every cloud does have a silver lining. But I agree -- I wish of few of them had rain too.

I'm with ya! It is so hot here! I take the truck to the corner to wait for the bus, too hot to stand outside!

I bumped ours up to 80. It was at 78 and came on ALL the time. At 80, it comes on maybe 2-3 times in an hour. When we leave to go somewhere for the day I bump it up to 82. We were out all day Monday and Tuesday so I figured I saved a bit of money by not cooling the house while we weren't at home.
Our bill wasn't terribly high this month, 207. It was 250 this time last year so my frugal ways are paying off.Nicole, Mom of 4 ages 6-16~

I feel for you, because that's how I felt last February when it was so cold outside they called off school for 3 days. The furnace just ran and ran during that cold spell. Hope it gets better for you soon.
Oh, and you can have some of the rain we've been having up north here. I admit I enjoyed the cool spell we had, but int he last 3 weeks we have had over 10" of rain. My garden is drowning.Last edited by kabin63; 08-22-2007 at 01:37 PM.

I can totally relate. I just turned off the AC an hour ago. The inside temp reads 80. I just put my hair up have a pair of shorts on and put on a spaghetti strap tank top. I look trashy but nobody can see me. I think I'm going to keep doing this until it's just unbearable. I will put the ac back on at night because we live in an iffy neighborhood and have to close the windows again.

I am suffering right with you! I hate the Texas heat, but I think it is extremely hot in a lot of places this year. I agree -- bring on some rain!!

I GOT TO SHUT MINE OFF!!
I got to shut mine off yesterday!!! First time I think in a month. It was actually hotter in the house than outside when I got home from work. We have ours set at 80 and it was finally 76 outside. IT is still off and I think it will stay off as it is only suppose to be 83 today and 76 tom. It has been raining off and on all week so hopefully the humidity will be tolerable.
