Default Electric bill up $20....my own fault

I've been slack in turning things off, unplugging, and I've left the air turned down to 76 all day a few times. I've just had so much on my mind the last month. So my bill went up $20, and I'm beating myself up for it! I'll do better next month. I'm getting two more CFL's today...one for the laundry room, and one for my bathroom.

When I change the fixtures out in the bathrooms, it will be easier to use CFL's in the front bathroom. I have a Hollywood light fixture now, and CFL's would just look stupid in that. Even the round ones still look like CFL's. I thought about making a valance to cover it until then, and just putting one 100 watt CFL in there. I need the light to put my makeup on, or I'll literally poke myself in the eye with my mascara! It's a pain getting old and blind.

    Default new fangled light bulbs

jaded maybe you need to go look at some of the lighting stores or i dont really know but i was watching a show on HGTV and they showed the new fancy lightbulbs. and some of them were shaped like the big fat bulbs that fit over the bathroom thingie. so maybe a home depot or lowes sells them. All my lights are them curvey circular ones like 14 watts and living in a trailer. the old regular bulbs seemed to blow out almost every 10th time i turned a light switch on (dang cheap trailer). but the new type bulbs, i have had maybe 4 months and none have blown yet which is good since they cost like 6 bucks apiece

In our town, something on our bill went up significantly last month. My neighbor down the street called me to ask if my bill went up because hers went way up. Incidentally, my bill in summer is usually between $100-$130....Last month, it was $190, this month, $149. I have been keeping the sir on 80, no lights on during the day, blah blah blah...I've done the same things since we moved here. It's just going up. Even though we have all electric, the electric company said we can expect a significant increase in the coming months. Yuck.

Here in Georgia this weekend we don't have to pay sales tax on Energy Star appliances or energy-saving things like the curly lightbulbs. We have switched most of our bulbs to the energy-efficient ones, and hope to see a difference in our next power bill.

This month's bill was up $10 over last month's, even though the temps last month were a lot worse than this one. I guess the power companies know we have to have their services and so they can charge what they like.
