Default You May Want to Have Plan B Ready

From what I've been reading the price of heating oil could get scary and that is not a Halloween Joke.

I recomend that you keep your eyes out for electric space heaters at a bargain price and buy a few. The price of oil may get so high this winter that it could be cheaper to use electricity.

    When to make the switch?

There is a post on my site titled WHEN SHOULD I SWITCH FROM PROPANE TO ELECTRIC HEAT? That includes a table to help folks decide when to switch to save money. Your forum rules will not let me put the url here.

Don't let the title fool you it is for propane and oil users.

Im not in VA, I am in PA and the prices are rising. Prices are in the range from 2.52 - 2.70 depending on the dealer. Some companies have one price for 100 - 149 gallons, and then the price drops a bit for larger deliveries.

For $2.59 a gallon, that isnt bad, I would snatch it up because believe me it will rise and quickly too!

I just purchased 150 gallons of oil and paid $368.78 but I had a $53 and some change credit, so out of pocket was $315.53, that's alot for me but I always make the oil last until summer.

Also, I use the econo heat heaters as well and it only raises my electric bill $10 a month for the house. I dont however use the oil heat and econo heaters at the same time, just when I am trying to conserve.

Right now we haven't turned on the heat or heaters and hoping I wont have to atleast for another month.

Wow...this is a real eye opener for me as I didn't even know what heating oil was until I came to the Village. Wow! Those prices are going up fast!!

We heat with natural gas here...and yes, the prices have gone up on that, too. We've had the furnace on for about a month already (the night temps were going below 40 degrees already at that point).

We'll be using the wood stove some this winter to reduce the heating bills...
