    Default Met a neighbour...

and compared power and taxes with her. I was shocked. She lives in a 962 sq. ft. home. Ours is 1475 sq. ft. We live on the same block. She has 2 people living in her home. We have 3 people in ours.

Her taxes are 2/3 of ours. Her utilities are the same or more! I laughingly said, "You must keep your heat higher than ours". She admitted they kept the TV and computers on most of the time.

Still...She was spending $100/mth. on natural gas heating and $100/mth. on electricity. We spend an average of $100/mth. on gas and $70/mth. on electricity. I guess not having a dishwasher, not using the dryer much, and turning off lights and power bars works.

It was interesting to compare notes like that. You don't often find neighbours willing to compare like that.

That's cool! Maybe you'll get a convert. When she sees that she can save money, hopefully she will change her ways.
