energy saving lightbulbs
So a few months ago I thought about changing all my bulbs to energy efficient ones, but I went to Target and Walmart and they were almost five dollars a piece. Obviously I didnt want to buy them at that price to replace all of the bulbs in my house (ten of them). Well, Sunday I was walking through Costco and I saw a ten pack for $14.00, with an instant rebate of $9 from Nevada Power. I got 10 bulbs for $5 bucks! Im so stoked. Plus they shed so much more light then regular bulbs so instead of having two lights on in the living room, now I only need one. Just thought I would share, because Im excited. It doesnt take much for me haha.

I found them on sale at Shoprite, and replaced all the bulbs in my house that I could. Unfortunately, they can't be used with dimmer switches, which I have on about 1/2 of my lights. So I'm trying to use the energy-saving lights most of the time. I'm anxious to see if there is any difference in the electric bill!

Switched mine over bout a year and half ago, saw an immediate drop in electric. I was on average monthly billing, but it made such a difference the first month dropped $20, the second down $5, the third $5.. it was averaged throughout the previous year, so it was substantial drop in usuage and would take a while to get the full effect.
But anyways, you better believe when we moved recently I took them all with me, all 17.
Thank goodness I kept the old bulbs to replace them in the old house, hehe. This worked out very well as my new house didn't have any bulbs in it at all.
Love 'em!

I switched over about a year ago and saw an immediate drop as well. That was the first thing I did when I moved in, since the builder put 100 watt bulbs everywhere
Just got 2 FREE ones in the mail last night from my Electric Company for filling out a survey

I splurged on some at Target and two were bad right off the bat and one went out within a week! Unfortunately, I didn't save the receipt. This was months ago and I am still steaming...

We've used the energy-efficient bulbs for several years now and we have seen a reduction in our power bills. Plus the bulbs last a lot longer than the regular incandescent bulbs. They're worth the extra $$$ because they pay for themselves in a short time.

haha ya the ONE that I bought at Target I broke within a few days of buying it. I had put it in a 6' tall standup lamp and went to move it, but instead of pushing the lamp I picked it up, so the bulb went smack right into the ceiling and shattered. Doh! Im still kicking myself over that one.

We replaced all our bulbs in the basement this fall. I noticed a drop of $15/mth. in our electric bill. No way do we get the good deals on CFLs you Americans seem to. I was lucky to find 5/$20. It was pricey to replace them, but I figure it will pay off in the long run.

We've replaced all our bulbs, except for the ones upstairs...they are next on our list though. We have the bulbs, and I could change them myself, if I wasn't afraid to climb on the ladder...we have 9' ceilings. LOL However, in just changing the basement lights and the first floor lights, our electric bill dropped considerably over the last several months!!

I have been working on changing mine over for a while. I have noticed a difference in the bill, but not sure about it all yet. While there is less electric used for that there is more for something else. Still, I like the fact that they last longer, when not brooken and I think they pay for themselves fairly quickly.

Forgot to mention that they also put out way less heat. That's less heat to have to fight to cool in the hot summers. At the time I lived in a pretty dark house (think there were 4 windows total) so I needed light everywhere. The AC didn't have to work quite as hard, it seems.
Hey, about the dimmer lights, I think I read they came out with some CFL's for those not too long ago, it might be worth checking in to.
Never had a problem with any of mine breaking or going out. We even moved them all 12 hours and all of them still worked. Hopefully you guys won't get lemon's anymore. I feel they really are worth the expense and will save lots of money in the long run.
LOVE not having to change them all the time!!
