    Default Bigger tv=bigger electric bill

For those ladies who don't want to drop the moola for a big screen tv that the guy in their life wants this Christmas, this could be a way to argue logically against it: it uses more electricity.

That's interesting info. We're not in the market for a new tv. Come next year we will either have to get a new tv or a converter box when all tvs have to be htv compatible.

We have a big tv and I did not notice our bill going up at all after we got it. We went from a 32" to a 55".

AAAHHHHH....about a year ago it was my bright idea to get a 60" widescreen. Can not blame the hubby on this one, I am the one that loves all the new tech.

I didn't notice any difference at all in our bill after we upgraded - perhaps the inefficiency of our old one offset the giganticness of the new one. I do hear it humming all the time though when it's off, so need to discuss with him a way to shut some components off completely when not in use (I don't dare touch it myself).

That is interesting information. I am bookmarking it for future reference.

I started to unplug mine when I am done watching it.

I just saw on TV that a plasma tv on 4-6 hours per day costs the same as your frig running 24 hours per day. I've always heard that our frig is the most expensive appliance we run, so I'm so glad we didn't go for plasma, I really don't see very much of a rise in our bill, and we have a HD 60 inch TV, except that the darn cable company charges an arm and a leg for the 8-9 HD channels we get.

We have a 62" DLP 1080p television, we haven't had any increase in our electric bill. It always stays the same or goes down.
