Default Heater settings while on vacation

My family will be going out of town for a week over Christmas. I was thinking that I would turn off the heat entirely while we are gone. We have an electric heat pump. It usually does not freeze where we live. Would that cause problems, or is it better to set it for some low temp - 55 degrees maybe?

I would not turn off completly. Do you have a thermostat that you can program to do different things at different times of day? If so I would say off for 12 hours, then on low maybe 50 for the night 12 hours.

If not then I say leave on 45-50 the whole time.

I would set it on at least 50 or 55. I think I have heard that the extreme cold can mess up your fridge.
