    Question Heaters

I have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath 1100 sf house. I use only 1 bedroom, 1 bath, living room and kitchen. I'm wondering if it would be more efficient if I turned my furnace down to 55-58 and used my quartz heater in the room I'm in rather than letting the furnace run. It doesn't get extremely cold here for long periods of time, (no snow, etc), but the temps will dip down into the 40's some days and the nights can go lower. I don't mind a chilly bedroom for sleeping. What are your thoughts on this?

that would be good, if you can handle that. i know that we keep our house kinda cold. but we can dress for that better than we can pay a huge bill! just take the heater with you to the different rooms and you will be fine.

I think you will save money by doing this. We are currently doing the same thing although my house is 1300 sq on the main level. I turn off my heat from 6 am - 9 pm or so depending on how cold it is and use 2 oil filled electric space heaters, so far so good for me!

You didn't say what your furnace fuel is.

If it is heating oil or propane you will save a lot with your plan. If your furnace runs on natural gas you will likely save a little.

    Every little bit helps.

Sorry I didn't mention my fuel. It's an electric heat pump. I'm total electric.
