I used one years ago when I lived on a mountain. Humidity is a good thing here, so I'm glad to have a source for a new one. Thanks for putting the links in your blog.

Thanks for posting
Very interesting gadget. I'll be checking Menards for one when I get up that way. My main concern is attaching the darn thing. My driver is in a pretty tight space.

Great tip, maybe I can convince hubby to let us do that.....our basement is unfinshed and unheated and we (or I should say he) is currently working on it and its like 50 down there.)

I can't find anything like this on either the US or the Cdn Home Depot sites, but I'm definitely going to go looking for one! Our laundry room is the coldest room in the house, so we keep the door shut so as to try and not let it chill the whole basement even further. Plus, our house is very dry in the winter, so the humidity would be a blessing. Thanks for the tip!

I love this idea. I always stare in dismay at my dryer vent, thinking of the lovely heat going outside my home!

we have used nylon stockings for as long as i can remember...they are easier to use than pantyhose coz you need to cut a leg off the pantyhose and then attach to the dryer hose with a rubber band or something...if you use the individual stockings they already have a 'cuff' to hold them on....
we pull the dryer hose from the wall and drape it over the dryer so that we can get to the end of the vent hose and take the nylon hose off after each load, turn it inside out and shake it out, rinse it off with water, shake it off and re-attach for the next load.....
we have never had too much moisture in the house (though i suppose if you were doing 5 or more loads a day it could become a problem).... don't forget if you pull your dryer hose from the outside vent to plug the hole for the winter (just stuff a towel or something in it) to keep the cold air and the 'critters' from coming on inside.....
