    Question Summer is coming and..

my dad and his friend park their motor home in my yard which is fine by me. For the past 3 years dad has given me $50 per month towards the electric for the months they are here...but, the cost of electricity has skyrocketed and I was thinking of asking him to contribute $75. In the past the $50 hasn't really covered the additional cost, but I was loathe to say anything...cuz he's my dad.

Would it be undaughter like of me to let him know he needs to throw more into the electricity kitty?

I'm sure your dad wouldn't want you to pay for his electricity. I would just explain the situation. I think $75 is more than fair. HTH

I think $75 is fair as well, I am sure if you explain things to him, he will understand.

I'm sure that he will understand. You may want to have a copy of the bill handy from last summer to this year just so you can show him the increase in cost. It never hurts to have a back up of information to share.

i don't think it's un-daughter-ly of you at all. I think if he knew he's be happy to help out more. But often if we don't know there's anything amiss we don't know to ask.

i think if you just present the facts to your dad, w/out seeming like it's a charity thing, just "hey dad, btw, i was going over our electric bills and noticed that it's going to cost about 75$ to pay for your motor home. do you think you could help with that?"

no empathy stories (you know how men are!).

    good luck!

Thanks ladies!!! Dad's just a different kind of a guy...he's my dad and I know what his budget is like ever since my mom died. Guess if he tries giving me a hard time I can remind him that I paid him $25. per week to live at his house after graduation back in 1976...so he's getting off real cheap comparatively speaking of course LOL.
