    Default eden pure

I can relate to the posts about high heating costs. I wish we could have a woodburner stove but unfortunately that isn't possible. In looking at alternative heating solutions I ran across this and wondered if anyone knew anything about this electric heater?

    http://edenpurestore.com/

From what I have read it seems that this heater takes less electricity than others. hmmmmm it is also alot more pricey than others. I haven't checked out consumer reports yet, that's my next stop. What do you all think?

I sell those at my job

My parents bought one, the model 1000 xl. The heater is quiet. My parents work during the day but when they get home they turn it on. Their house feels nice and warm while it's on. They got their first electric bill, it was $35 higher than normal. So they did see a big savings and was worth it to them.

At my job i've had people call in to tell me they love it, and i've had people call in claiming their electric was sky high. Seems to me that there has been "bad batches" sent out.

shipping can take up to 3-4 weeks instead of 2 weeks.

I'm considering purchasing one next September. The $400 is a lot but my heat bills are almost $200. My parents was buying almost $600 for propane every 6-7 weeks.

I have 3. We bought them about 2 years ago and within just a few weeks of the warranty going out, they quit working. They were GREAT while they worked but oneday they just quit heating. The blower works, etc.... but no heat. They really were wonderful while they worked. I had told my brother about them as well and they got 2. 1 of his did the same thing . I wouldn't buy another one just b/c I'm certain I didn't save a dime overall with as much as they cost. (1 of the ones we have dh used at his office and 1 of them we gave to my parents, we weren't running 3 of them here at the house---just for clarification)

I'd love to have a woodburner stove too... but its not a possibility right now because of where I live and the design of my house.

Anyone ever see those amish firplace heaters in the newspaper? supposed to use very little energy, every time I see them I think I should get one but I dont know how they work and they are 250 bucks or more.
They sell the mantle ( handmade amish mantle) and give you the fireplace free ( its actually a forced air heater) Says its very low cost and can be wheeled room to room.
Yes, they sound GREAT, but in reality... do they work like they say?

ps, with all the advances in technology why can't they make an economical air conditioner, one that maybe works on solor power for us folks in the deep south?

    ?????????

Yes I've seen them and I'm pretty sure it's almost the exact same thing as the Eden Pure heater. I have my doubts as to how long they would last. The Eden Pure heater heated a lot of our house (it's not very big) for not much money while it lasted.

Any idea how expensive they would be to fix if that were the case? How hard would it be to replace ourselves....? TIA

It costs between $20-$40. Call the number you ordered or the customer service number. You can only buy replacement parts from the place you bought it from only.

They will try to get you to send it and pay for them to fix it but I believe you can do it yourself.

449 dollars? yow !!!!!!! Just been to the eden pure site.

and they say only 50% savings. It DOES seem like the one they sell encased in the amish mantle... but as I recall the one in the amish mantle is 70% savings on your energy bill.

I think I would like to get one but not sure if they are worth the cost.

PrairieRose, How much did your electric bill go up running an edenpure? It would be great if the heat bill went down but not so great if the electric bill went up....lol. Thanks

    Default Electric Space Heaters

ALL electric space heaters have the same energy efficiency.

They are all 100% efficient at changing electricity into heat.

They all work as resistance heaters like your toaster or stove. Some have quartz elements and some don't but they all heat just the same way.

They all convert 1,000 Watts of electrical power into 3,412 BTU's of heat.

Look for low cost and long life. If your electric space heater does not last as long as your toaster you did not choose wisely.

Some look better than others. Buy one that lasts a long time on sale.

They all use electricity and add to your electric bill. They save only if you can use them in a way that reduces your use of central heating.

The one you buy should have a tip over safety switch so if it gets knocked down it will not start a fire. An ugly old "Milk House" heater is still a good design. They stop heating when the cow kicks them over. Try your Tractor Supply store or farm supply store or McMaster-Carr or Granger.
