This past October we had a bad storm which basically caused alot of water to get under our shingles and made our livingroom ceiling cave in. Well, when we bought the house two years before we were told the roof was only a couple years old. That may have been the case but whoever did it didn't know what they were doing.

Anyway... I've had to fight with the insurance company since then and did get a new roof however we had to pay ungodly high electric bills. (At least $1000 total in four months) Last month we used less electricity yet the bill was higher than the month before!

I told DH we need to rig up a windmill to generate electricity as its always windy here. I'm driving him nuts unplugging/turning off things. He doesn't seem to worry too much about anything which is so fustrating.

Seems our December bill said there would be a 3.5% increase the following month. However, there's a line for Power Cost Adjustment which added another 10-15% to our March bill. This line has been on the bill for sometime (last year or 2). Don't ask me to explain Power Cost Adjustment... seems it something to do with power company having to buy more at the current/higher rates cause you're using more. Must be everyone in the area since our usage continues to decrease each month. Really trying to keep the power bills down, but its not working.

We belong to an electric cooperative which hadn't raised its rates in 20+ years. Last year we were informed that the rates would go up by about 20%. The cost of oil is touching and affecting everything we are doing in life.
