I certainly wouldn't fly anymore if this became the way airlines charged. I won't be hopping on a scale in front of total strangers.

Oh, for crying out loud..... and that's what I would be doing! So what happens if I buy my ticket in advance and then put on some water weight, which I have been known to do? Or vice versa: I pay for a heavier weight ticket and then lose weight just before flying? Too many snafus.

You pay what you cost. I'm hardly skinny and don't think it's wrong. But they better make the accomodations FIT what I cost, too. No more tiny bags of peanuts for the big people. LOL

For the record, I doubt the airlines will stick with this attempt. Not because it doesn't make sense or that its discriminatory, but because of the number of people who are going to raise hell about it, regardless.

Hmmm, I am planning to fly in September - maybe... But I will be about 7 months pregnant, so what will they charge me?? Double??
I better get a foot massage with it, because if I fly one airline I will have to pay for my baggage too!
I was pretty average before I got pregnant, so I reckon it could be a good'ish deal for some. I am getting a little fed up with all these hikes on this that and the other. Who really wants to fly now? Maybe I should look into Amtrack or something... Maybe the airline industry should make a stand and get the oil prices lowered! But if they are going up on fairs now because of oil - why were they going up on them before?
Perhaps the US should have a airline like RyanAir in Europe - cheap seats, just pay a standard tax and surcharge for where you want to go. Pay extra for more baggage and if you change your reservation - you loose your money - period.

Amtrak is a much nicer way to travel, but much longer, and not much cheaper.
I don't know how the airlines would get the price of oil lowered - any "stand" would hurt them more than the oil companies, because to not buy fuel, they'd have to not fly, and they still have employees to pay.
The airlines tick me off for other reasons - namely they run their businesses into the ground, and then expect government bail outs. SouthWest proved that you can run a profitable airline, so the whole "nobody can make it as an airline today" line just doesn't fly. But that's the market for you - when the leaders get fat and bloated, the competitors are ready to eat them up.

i dont agree or disagree with this...
however, i do see the point of companies.
maybe this is a *HINT* that the US and now other parts of the world are too fat.
i know i could stand to lose a few myself.
i wouldnt want to be the "next!!!" person in line to get "weighed in" publicly.
but if i had to trade that in with better/more comfortable accommodations, then perhaps it is worth it??
just my thoughts
