this maybe our vacation this year
In the past, DH and I take a weekend or two in the summer (June-beg. of Aug) just for us. Sometimes we camp out (tent) most of the time it is a hotel. The other weekends we take the kids with us and go camping. Kids love it. But plans may change this year due to prices going up on everything. My DH has 1 brother and 2 sisters all whom are married with kids. He still has both parents and we hope for many more years to come. I love my in-laws. This year we are thinking about renting a house for the whole family. Found one in TN for $375.00/night. That is too much just for us. But it is 5 bedrooms, 5 baths. Perfect for the married couples. All cousins can sleep on the floor in the gameroom in sleeping bags. Best deal yet, with every couple paying their own way, $75.00/night. That's more like it for us. It has been discussed- each family takes own vehicle, breakfast, lunch and supper can or can not be eaten together. One's own choice. Day trips can be taken together or separate. Depends on own's on interest. And we all actually get along so that is the biggest plus. Not sure how we will get along afterwards-lol. We are getting excited.

My Husband's family does something like that every couple of years. However, they do it in Italy, so it can be a bit more expensive! Last time they did it, we didn't go. I've actually never been, but it sounds like it would be fun.
For a friend's wedding DH and I rented a cabin nearby the resort in Lake Arrowhead and let all of our friends stay. There was only actually 3 bedrooms, two were single and one was huge and had like 4 beds in it. It ended up being something like $25 per person. Can't beat that!

Sounds like fun! And a great way to split the cost and save money! I want to go to TN!
