Questions about toll road (TN to PA)
I have never ever ever been thru a toll road. Joe is in a wedding near Pittsburgh, PA the first weekend of Oct and I know on the directions it said portions of the roads were toll roads. I know my boss got a ticket for not having any money when he was out in CA for work last spring so he told me to have some money with me for sure. My question is this, how frequent are they and about what do they cost.
They only part that says anything about a toll in our directions are for when we are on I-77 crossing from VA into WVa.
Anyone have any idea how much cash we should keep on hand for the tolls and any idea how many we will have to go thru.
Thanks for your help.

I haven't been on any of those particular toll roads, but I'd say they are probably $2-4 each. I would just make sure you have plenty of $1 bills on hand. The only toll roads I've ever taken have been in Alabama and Florida. You might run into more going over a longer distance like that, but you might can check your route somehow online to see exactly how many, and there might be a site that tells how much each toll will cost. Good luck!

If your hitting the PA turnpike I'd have at LEAST $20 bucks on hand. We take it from around Washington PA all the way up to the Jersey turnpike and last time I think it ran us somewhere between $16 to $22 for just that road. It's been a couple of years though so I can't remember if Pittsburg is on that road or if it veers off. I'm pretty sure you are on it though. My sister just made the hall to Long Island last week though. She's due home tommorrow I'll check in with her on the price. If you are on the PA tpk make sure you don't let the tank run low some of the exits are 50 something miles apart.
Oh...and the going family joke is that it's ALWAYS snowing in Washington PA.

you should be able to simply google up I 77 tolls and find out exactly what they will be at each toll booth.... same for any other toll roads on the journey..

I just looked up the turnpike because I couldn't remember where Pittsburg was in relation to it. Looks like you may only be on it a short time or not at all.
Here's the web address if you will be. I'd google the rest as suggested by dilligaf.

The only tolls you will hit from TN to Pittsburgh will be in southern WV. They're only a few bucks. Carry a couple of fives and a stack of ones. The toll booth operators will make change for you, no problem. Tolls end before you hit Charleston, WV.
From Charleston, WV up to Pittsburgh, you'll be on I-79 the entire way up through Clarksburg, Fairmont and Morgantown. I 79 parallels with I 70 briefly at Washington, PA, which is a sucky stretch of road but no tolls. Stay on 79 all the way up to 279 into Pittsburgh. Unless the Wedding is far east of Pittsburgh and you have to get on I-76, there should be no other tolls.
Sound like I've ever done that drive before?

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Ok, I know I'm going to sound really ignorant here but what do they use the toll money for?

Road Maintenance mainly, I believe. Although on the PA turnpike, its a little hard to believe - what a crappy road that is...
