Driving here from maine this summer, which wasn't all bad but IDAH was with us,and he wouldn't check on the black cat in the black carrier in a hot van so we had to cut out stuff short to check on the cat and got there just in time, poor thing. *if your wondering more than likely your not, but the cat is just fine, and he now weights at least 20 lbs.
the one before that was in New Hampshire with my EXH and we were in a campground, the idiot *see a pattern with my husbands, they are both stupid.* threw coleman fuel on the fire and burned all the leaves off the tree, *it was about 25 feet high. he was so DUH!.

Well, I haven't been on many vacations (and ex fiance didn't plan a honeymoon for us....I should have taken that as a hint!, I thought we were just being frugal!) but when I about 13, my mom and her husband decided to get the bright idea to drive to Florida (from Sudbury, Ontario) to go to Disney world/land whatever. Well, my brother decided to break his leg the day before we left....we still went though, he got the whole backseat for a 2 day drive so he could prop up his leg; the weather was freezing....I only brought one pair jeans and a sweatshirt and I ended wearing those same clothes the whole time! I never got to swim in the ocean. the only perk was we got first in line because my brother had the wheelchair. The worst part was my brother got the bed in the hotel room and I slept on the floor on a sleeping bag.....didn't sleep the whole time because I saw a cockroach in the hotel.....WORST vacation ever....and I haven't had one since!

We went camping with DH cousin and his girlfriend one time. They were so nit-picky we left the last night and spent it in a Holiday inn. They expected us to make our bed in a pop up camper of all things, besides all the other nonsense.
The time before that was with DH cousin and girlfriend again (we didn't learn our lesson after this :banghead: ) We rented a condo in Ocean City, MD. They were complaining that someone left a hair in the shower, someone left a spatula in the sink, and on and on and on. We had a big blow out over it-they are not neat freaks by any stretch of the imagination. DH cousin even complained about how much hair I had in my hairbrush!!!!! Why was he even in our room???

Often the worst vacations turn out to be the best in the long run. When you get together with family and everyone starts with "Remember that time we..." I have several bad experiences that when looked at in retrospect are hilarious. Rainy camping trips are the best when looked BACK on.
We had some neighbors and their daughter was in my son's class and had artificial legs. They went on vacation and toured a historic home somewhere. As they were helping her up some stairs in the house they got to the top and her legs came off and rolled all the way downstairs. Sounds horrific but when she got home she wrote her "Young Authors" project on her most memorable vacation. She won top honors. It was great.
When my parents were married we went on camping vacations every year. I HATE camping vacations, especially the ones that involve outhouses.
I have two that really stand out. The first one was when I was probably 11 and we went on a weekend trip to south Missouri. We went to Ha Ha Tonka state park to hike. My mom read that there were a lot of caves off the beaten path there and got the brilliant idea to go exploring. So we get off of this nice paved handicap trail and decend down this huge ravine. There were signs everywhere that said, "Stay on the path" but my mom doesn't follow instructions well. It had rained the night before, so it was really slick. I was inching my way down this ravine backwards grabbing onto rocks and trees for footings. I guess I grabbed a tree that was too small because I ended up doing cartwheels down this ravine. Did I mention it was huge? Thankfully other than some scraps and bruises I wasn't hurt. We then had to make our way back up this huge ravine to get to our car. We finally got back to the parking lot and I went to the bathroom to clean up. There was a church group full of little old ladies in the bathroom gasping at me because I looked like the swamp thing.
The second vacation was actually worse. I was 8 and we went to Colorado with my grandma, step grandpa, uncle and my parents. My uncle and my mom ended up getting into a fight and my uncle tried to hit my mom. Unfortunalty he missed and hit me. I had a black eye and a busted lip. My parents were so upset, with reason, that we got all of our stuff out of my grandma's moterhome and left them there. The bad part was we didn't have a vehicle. We ended up camping and hitching a ride to the nearest Greyhound station. Not a pleasant vacation at all.
We visited DH's brother and sister in law a few summers ago, and we stayed at their house. It was unbearably hot, no air conditioning, no fan.....and it's a very nice but very tiny house....definitely too small for all of us to be there 24/7 for 5 days.
The most stunning aspect was when DH's sil asked me to clean the bathroom....and to do the toilet with a towel and no gloves!
My worst vacation was in Paris last year in May. We had planned to get engaged on that trip so we were looking forward it very much. But then everything worked out to be terrible!!! The hotel we had booked was totally dirty, especially our room: dirt on the floor, marmelade on the shelfs and even chicken bones under the bed!!!! I couldn't believe and refused to touch anything!! I really felt disgusted!! We told the hotel manager and he promised us he would let it clean. So we left to see some parts of the city without relaxing. Even our clothes were still in the suitcases. When we came back in the evening these chicken bones were still under the bed. We had to call the manager three times till he finally came to our room. He became quite unfriendly, but gave us another room, which was not much better: the shower was full of hairs; the whole bath room was so dirty....
Unfortunately, we couldn't change the hotel, because it was a holiday and all hotels we could afford were fully booked.
We tried to make the best of it, but the French people were quite unfriendly to us ~ most of the time. Also we were quite afraid to be on the streets after 9 pm because there were a lot of "dark shadows" everywhere. Also most of the museums and monuments were closed due to the holiday.
In the end we got engaged in the beautiful gardens of Versailles, but this is the only good memory of the trip. Maybe in some days we can laugh about it, who knows!
My worst vacation, I get angry every time I think about it.
My first husband had cancer and was drinking very heavy. He insisted we take our 2 foster children to Disney world over Memorial Day. (We lived in Fl at the time). So he calls his brother to come from SC to help. He did try but it was awful. BIL hates Disney and dislikes children. The kids were 4 and 2. I had them on me the whole time, dh was drunk most of the time, BIL was mad most of the time.
I really wanted them to see the parade, Of Course it pours rain about a half hour before the parade so dh and his brother tell me to do what I want they are going back to the hotel. I sat on the curb with the two kids, all 3 of us crying.
It was definately the worst 2 1/2 days of my life.
I haven't been back. I know all kids should go but somehow I am convinced these 2 will live without that trip again.
