    Hi!

I am familar with the Pompano Beach.
    When are you going down?
    Are you flying in?
Are you going alone, with a significant other, kids?

Pomapano is in the Hollywood/Ft Lauderdale area and there is lots to do.
It is located about 20 -30 minutes north of the airport depending on the traffic.

Theres lots of places to stay, all the usual, Best Western, Days Inn, Marriots, Holiday Inn, etc.
    Upscale & down.
The closer to the water, the higher the cost.

There is no shortage of places to eat, again all the east coast usual fast food places. McD's, BK, Cracker Barrel, Denny's, etc.
The Clock Restaurants are similar to Diners and the food and breakfasts are good.
Wings & Things is a great place for wings!!! The Best anywhere!
There is no shortage of great seafood places.

    Things to do:
    Most obvious is the beach.
Deerfield Beach is nice, with side of the road parking. As is Hollywood Beach, one of the the Hollywood Fire Dept's stations is even right on the beach.

A ride down A 1 A is a must to see all the lovely hotels and such. Its just too bad there are so many of them. I remember when you had an unobstructed view of the ocean, oh well.

In Ft Lauderdale, at the Bahia Mar Yacht Center, you can go for a cruise on a paddle wheel on the Jungle Queen, which will take you down the intercoastal waterway "For a 3 hour Cruise" All you can eat dinner cruise that is, past all the mansions on Millionaires row.
If you are there during the holidays, its not to be missed as all the houses are decorated and so are the boats and they parade the boats all decked out nightly. Even the houses flash their lights in "Hello" to the Jungle Queen.
It's a fun night and well worth whatever the cost is these days.

Just west of Pompano is Coconut Creek and thats where Butterfly World is, it is beautiful, all the butterflies fly free, wear bright clothes and a floral perfume and they may even land on you! BRING YOUR CAMERA!

Museum of Discovery & Science is fun for kids & adults
Dania Jai - Alai is a fun day
Howl at the Moon on Las Olas Blvd, Ft L'dle is a fun sing along bar.

There is so many things to see that you will not be bored, just cause you never heard of Pompano, it really is central to alot of fun stuff! I am sure there will be tons of info where ever you stay.
And you can even broaden your horizons and drive down to Miami where there is even more. The Parrot Jungle, Monkey Jungle etc
If you want to know more just ask!
Have a great trip and let us know how it was!

Thanks for your informative post, Ellen!

My FIL is planning to take the family there as our Christmas gifts during the first week in Feb. So it will be he and his fiancee, my bil, sil, and us (my dh and my 2 girls ages 5 and 7)

I'm looking for information about what to do, what the weather will be like then, places to stay that won't break the bank, how far from Disney is it (as we plan to go there for a couple of days), etc.
