    Default vacation choices - help!

When Malcom comes home from deployment we are going on a mini vacation/honeymoon (that is overdue!!). We have talked about going to DC and it sounds like a great time - especially in April but I started thinking about hitting the mountains. We are only about a 3-4 hour drive from either place so that isn't an issue.

What do you think? I would love to hear some good and bad about each place to help with my decision. Thanks ladies!

Daphne our ds and ddil live in D.C. . We visited there for the first time ever last August and I have to say that it's an absolutely awesome place to visit. If you decide to go there wear a comfy pair of shoes Lots and lots to see.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

I've been to DC many times, and can't wait to go again. There's so much to see there! The subway system is clean, and easy to use even for out-of-towners. The Vietnam memorial... wow, if you've never seen it in person you absolutely have to go there. Arlington... Lincoln memorial.... the 'mall' (big water area by Washington monument).... the museums.... there's just so much neat stuff there! However, there is a lot of walking-- will you be up for that in April? Also, that's a vacation you will probably want to take again after your baby is a little older.

If you're looking to relax before the baby comes, you might want to hide away in the mountains instead. You won't have that quiet time to yourselves for a long time to come!

Just my ! Wherever you go, enjoy!

That's tough. I've never been to DC but would love to go. As for the mountains......Joe and I can't get enough. We went to school in the mountains and while living almost on the coast of NC every time he got a vacation instead visiting family for a week, we dropped off the dog at the inlaws and headed right back for the mountains....lol

Either one would be a great get away. I guess it depends on if you want to do touristy/sight seeing things like in DC or if you want to relax and just get away from things in the mountains.

Thanks ladies - but if we go to the mountians do you recommend any nice places to stay? Somewhere that we can do some tourist stuff because I know that I won't be hiking up a mountain!
