Default Georgia off the beaten path?

I'm looking for suggestions of any cool museums, historical sites, restaurants, antique stores, thrift stores, etc. that are located in small towns in Georgia. Anything on the eastern side of the state as far north as Commerce is fair game. We'll hopefully be meandering along those parts soon and I was hoping to find some neat places to stop.

Oh, we love Commerce!!! The pottery factory and nursery are wonderful! Also enjoy Madison the old homes are worth the walking tour!! Great resturants on the town square trying to remember the name of the one we ate at!!!And just outside of Athens on 441 going to Commerce is J&J Flea Market. We usually lose at least 3 hours on a Saturday morning there. In Eatonton is the Uncle Remes(?sp) museum. 441 and 129 are a nice ride with lots of little roadside stands and small flea markets. Good concrete places too. For bird baths and yard stuff. We used to have a place in Cherokee and went this route several times a year. In the early spring the westeria is in bloom and lovely. Lots of good nurersies. Another good flea market is to the west on I85 from Commerce at exit #50. Used to have name written in my map book but can't read it anymore lol.
    Enjoy and have fun.

Laurie - Is the pottery factory part of the outlets? I'm not familiar with the town, but one of dh's college friends that we are hoping to see knows the town well. I've been sitting here finding everything you listed on the map. I have no clue where dh plans to go (I'm sure he has something spinning in his head that he hasn't shared), but you've given me some good things jot down and take on a list with me.

The pottery is a shop at the Outlets but its a building all to its own. The Outlets are all around it. As you are going north on 441 it sits on the left just before the interstate. We have stayed at the little motel right behind the pottery. Its clean and nice not to bad price wise. We're also eaten at the fish Market place in front of the Pottery won't eat there again -yuck- have also eaten at the little Mexican place on the same side of the raod as pottery and just a few steps beyond the motel. Would eat there again food was good and reasonable. Plus there is a Sonny's BBQ there thats clean and good.
The pottery has a back room where many things are deeply discounted I've always found a few goodies here for Christmas gifts.
Hope you have a wonderful time. Roll the windows down and enjoy the time together.
