Talking Super Cheap Weekend in DC

So, I was super worried about cracking during my annual girls weekend and spending way too much money...well, my fears turned out to be groundless!!!

day 1: We went to the national zoo in the morning and it was free, free free!!!!! Then we went to Wolf Trap to see the taping of Prairie Home Companion taping...lawn seats were $20.00 and instead of buying food we took a picnic.

day 2: Visited Arlington National Cemetary, Vietnam War Mem., Washington Monu., WWII mem., and walked all over DC. We shared lunch at Chipotle ($3.00) and then we went out for dinner at a pretty nice rest. but I only spent $25.00 and that included buying 1/2 of our hosts dinner.

The hotel (2 rooms for 3 nights) told us that the pool would be open that weekend. Well, it didn't get opened on schedule and I went to talk to the manager. He took $20.00 off each room for all 3 nights!!!!!

Total cost of my 3 day weekend including gas and food....$350.00 Not bad for our nations capital with 4 other girls who are big spenders!!!! (that money includes the t-shirt I got DH and the teeny splurge fest I had in a bookstore! )

You did great and so glad you had a wonderful weekend. So you think this girls out weekend will hold you for a while?

You did great! We're going to see our ds and ddil in July. Even though we have free airline vouchers, our trip will cost us more than that in hotel bills I'm sure. (they only have a 1 bedroom apt., don't want to sleep on the floor for 4 nites ) I don't care, I'm dying to see them.
