Maine/New England States???

DH and I live in SC and would love to visit Maine and the New England states when kids get out of school at the end of next May. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we should see? Any frugal travel tips for this area?

I love Cape Cod-but we go after season when prices drop and there is so much less traffic. Don't miss whale watching trips!

What is considered off-season in your area? Kids have from May 22nd-August 8th out of school. I had hoped to beat rate increases, etc...by going as soon as they get out of school. What are tempatures, etc... like in the Northeast at the end of May?

i am from maine, and i love that place was just there last week. You have to go to fat boys in brunswick. (One of my personal favorites) um go see a fishing village one of the kewl thing about there buy lobster from the boat at one of the lobster shacks, Go to arcadia, my biggest suggestion is that you want to get out of portland and defantly drive RT1, takes for ever but trust me you can see so much. hope you enjoy it as much as i do. OH and go to the Clothes Basket in Skowhegan (Name brand clothes dirt cheap while your there tell my mum i said hey (That is where she works). Need any more info just let me know.
