Vacation Day Trip!
Hello all,
Since we are cutting back on things and living a more frugal lifestyle, I have decided to take 3 days off from work around Labor day and take a one-day vacation to Holly, MI for the renaissance festival. It will be a day trip (1 hour there and back), so no need to rent a hotel room. The tickets will cost about $35 (although I think I can get that cheaper at Kroger) and then food and drink will be extra. So, about $100 for our vacation day trip! Not too shabby when you can't afford to go anywhere else!
DH is getting ready to go back to school in September (and so am I), so this will be a nice relaxing time before we have to buckle down and study.

That's a great idea. We've done that sort of thing many times, especially when the kids were at home. It saves lots of money and you still feel like you got "get away" for a vacation for a while. I hope you have a great time

Some of our best vacations were in day trips. We have a Renaissance fair here every year and there is lots of fun to be had there. I hope you all enjoy it.

Hope you have a great time! The town I'm originally from has a Renissance fair every year too. My dh and I are taking a short weekend trip during the labor day weekend. We driving about 5 hours north, staying with my dad, going to a football game, driving another 3 hours north after the game, staying with my mom, and then coming home on Monday. Only costs will be gas, the tickets to the game (we already have them), and a few food costs.

Brilliant! Instead of spending a lot of time and $$$ on the travel part, you're maximizing your experience.
And you won't have to pack!
Now, tell us how you get discount tickets at Kroger!
