Will Gas Prices Effect Your Summer Plans?
Will Gas Prices Effect Your Summer Plans?
I know they have changed mine. We live to take long drives, but we are cutting that out..

Our plans are not going to be altered at all. We take our big 2 week trip every December. That trip is a 7-9 hour, 500 miles, one-way drive. Then we do a few smaller (180 miles one-way) 2-4 day trips throughout the summer months to the beach or to the Atlanta area.
I have not let the gas prices effect me coming and going in my day to day life and I am not going to let them effect my get-a-ways either. JMHO.DD (19)

Absolutely. No car trips this summer, We're thinking about taking Amtrak instead if we want to go anywhere but because of budget reasons we might just stay home.
Forgot to add, this more for boycott reasons, we can afford the gas but choose not to buy it. We've gone from filling 4 times a month to once.

It will not effect us. We were going to drive to Vermont this summer, but since I used all of my vacation time on Bedrest no vacation for me

But if I had not used my vacation time we still would not go to Vermont because of gas. We also have cut back on buying gas for boycotting reasons.

The prices will not effect us. We will still take a vacation regardless of gas prices.

The gas prices have thrown my budget into a mess, again. I commute 30 miles to work each day, not alot, but at the current rate it is quite a chunk of the budget for gas. I am thinking more about the cost of travelling, and we will be staying close to home this summer.

Nope. We don't drive any more in the summer than we do in the winter, so the price of gas won't have any direct impact on our summer plans.

The last month is really the first time I have felt like the gas prices are affecting my budget and I don't like it!!! We don't have any trips planned this summer but I have become much more conscious lately of where I drive and if i really need to go there or not.

We just got back from a seven day stay in Gatlinburg,Tennessee. We took my Camery and I filled up before we left, drove all week while there which included going to Pidegon Forge several times and two driving tours through the Smokies. We filled up before we left Friday night, drove back to the Georgia coast on Saturday, and I still have gas in the tank.
Before the trip, hubby (himself) changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, rotated the tires, added a gas additive to the tank, and made sure the tires were properly inflated. It made a big difference in the gas usage.
We will probably take a three day trip to Florida before school starts again in August.
Of course, flat out highway driving using cruise control uses less gas than in town, stop and go driving.

We won't be visiting the inlaws except for major events at their homes. Which will only be twice.
They can come visit us if they want to see us. They make more money than we do.
