Default Home from the Outer Banks!

What an awesome place to visit! We had a wonderful time. Our house was great. The kids loved having the pool and we all enjoyed the hot tub. We had a short walk to the beach. The beach was awesome! The day we arrived it was pretty cool and windy and we were afraid we had chosen the wrong place, but it warmed up and we had a blast. We normally go to Destin or St. George Island. We stayed in an area called Waves. The waves here were huge compared to what we are used to seeing. I saw people surfing. First time I have ever seen that. Lots of people were kite surfing, too.

Feeding the birds was an interesting activity. We could go out on our balcony, throw some bread and the birds would swarm around. They would eat the bread right from your hand. On Sunday afternoon it rained and we saw the most beautiful rainbow. A full rainbow with a reflection behind it. Looked like there were two of them.

On Tuesday, we got up early and went to the beach to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean. We also went to Kitty Hawk and Kill Devils Hill... which Laurie in Bradenton and mentioned to me. It was very interesting to see where the Wright Brothers made the first flight.

On Wednesday, we took a dolphin watch cruise. An hour and a half cruise searching for dolphins. My DD18 was the first to spot the dolphins and won a t-shirt! As we were getting off the ship, the sun was setting and what a site it was! On the way home, we stopped at the Froggy Dog for supper and some of the kids sang karaoke.

On Thursday, we went to Jockey's Ridge to watch the hang gliders and see the sunset. If it had been hot, I would have thought I was in the desert. So much sand and sand dunes! Great place to watch the sunset!

On Friday, we climbed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. It was a clear day and you could see for 15 miles. We then took the ferry to Ocracoke and spent some time on the island. MarshHen and Marie78 both mentioned this to me. We saw the Ocracoke Lighthouse and had lunch at Howard's Pub. Of all the places we ate, they had the best food by far! We went into the village there and looked through some of the shops. My oldest DBrother said if we ever came back he would like to stay on Ocracoke.

We were so busy. We never did get up to the end of the island to see the wild mustangs. I wish we had been able to do this. All in all, it was one of my favorite vacations. Buckeye5, if you still want to go there next summer, I would have to say definitely do it!
