Las Vegas
So I'm thinking of taking my bf to vegas this year for his bday. (depending on the costs by then
) Can anyone recommend where to stay, go, and do there? I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, maybe I should look for somewhere else. Just looking for ideas
Oh, it's for his 30th bday
Thanks

We stayed at Sam's Town about 6 years ago.
It is off the Strip, but close to everything. Had good and mostly affordable food, lots of free entertainment, a free water/light show in their "Park" every day. The rooms were nice then and apparently the casino has been redone lately.
They have BD specials, during Sun-Thur the rooms are very affordable. They gave you free breakfast vouchers. There is also a lot of free entertainment on the Strip. There is a free Pirate "shootout/sinking", free shos at most of the casinos.
The most expensive part of the trip for us was the drive /gas to and from Colorado. If you decide to go for it you can research a ,lot of this online to get the free shows etc.Last edited by EmilyD; 01-10-2008 at 11:03 PM.

How much are you looking to spend on a hotel room? Do you want to stay on the strip or off? As far as the the pirate shootout Emily D mentioned, its called the sirens of TI and the past couple of years theyve revamped it, its nothing but a t&a show now. When exactly would you be travelling? Downtown fremont street is cool to go at night, its the "Fremont street experience". If you happen to be here on the first friday of any month, there is a huge outdoor fair of sorts for free on Fremont. On the strip, free things to see:
botanical gardens at bellagio are gorgeous, theres also a beautiful water show there every night. theres a lion exhibit at MGM, at the planet hollywood mall, there is a cool computer generated thunderstorm that goes off every so often. caesars forum shops has the atlantis show. mirage is a really cool casino, there are tigers, a volcano, and an aquarium. one thing that isnt free but id recommend is the tournament of kings at excaliber, we had an absolute blast and the food was awesome. plus you could eat with your hands without being judged! off the strip, red rock canyon is absolutely breathtaking. and remember, just sit at a slot machine, and youll get free drinks all day. even if you dont put money into one, just sit down and wait for a waitress to come by, you get all the free drinks you want. just make sure to tip a bit. and dont forget one of my favorite pasttimes: people watching!
oh and i have to mention my favorite restaurant in the world: grand lux. its a 24 hour cafe owned by the cheesecake factory, they have the best burgers and chocolate cake in the world. a bit on the pricey side but so worth it, you get tons of food too! grand lux is in the venetian..

well if he wouldnt mind that, then you must take him to the new hooters casino lol. its his bday after all=) new york new york is cool, its right next to excalibur, mgm, m&m world, luxor, and tropicana. you know, you might want to think about staying in one of the older casinos on the strip, it would definitely be cheaper. plus, they plan on tearing down most of the old casinos in the next few years, so it would be cool to say you stayed there before they did.

We just got back. We stayed at Ceasar's (on the company's dime) and although it was nice I wasn't very impressed with the hotel itself. The casino was ok and the forum shops were awesome (high end) the food was good but the buffett was very expensive and not that great (we had catered meals). I really loved the Bellagio when we went there. Oh do see a good show like Cirque de Soleil or something. Some of them are sold out a year in advance but I'll bet you can get something if you try. To gamble go downtown, the tables are much cheaper there and I understand the machines are looser.

I second going to the show at the Excalibur...Dh and I went and it was a BLAST!!!
If you're planning to spend much on shows another great choice would be any of the Cirque Du Soliel shows...incredible!!!
There are tons of things there to do for free, too...M & M factory was one we had fun with!
Oh, and if he likes Star Trek...definitely go to the Hilton...the Star Trek Experience is there and is so fun!!
Hope you have a safe and very fun trip!

Driving on the strip can be a bear. If you are staying at a hotel either on or near the monorail ride use that as your intown transportation instead. I think it was $9 for 24 hours unlimited riding.

We were there this past June and you're going to haveI really loved the Bellagio when we went there.
blast. We too enjoyed the Bellagio's Buffett. Go at
lunch time. It's like eating at a five star restaurant.
Real linen napkins and everything. ($14.99pp)
They have a bus line called The Deuce now and it's
only $5 a day, a double decker bus. Go up top, see
everything, take your photo's up there. It also takes
you to the airport and the outlet, from one end of
the strip to the other and to the downtown casino's
(The Fremont Experience). If you buy your pass
at 3pm today it's good until 3pm the next day.
Awesome!
Go up in the Eiffel Tower across from Bellagio's,
see all the shows on the strip at night, you'll
have so much to do you'll love it.
Have a great time!

We stayed at Treasure Island (TI) a year ago and loved every minute of it! The staff was wonderful. When we checked in we told them we were there to celebrate our anniversary (20th) and they upgraded us for free and also sent up a complimentary bottle of champagne. We both enjoyed the stay there. You could see the whole strip from our room. They also have the Sirens show. If you are a guest at TI, you get to be upfront instead of in the back of the crowd. They have a section roped off for guest; just show your room key.
