Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg TN
Hey there... anyone from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area or someone that loves the area that would like to recommend their favorite places to go/things to see in the area. We love the area and are going back next week for vacation. We have been many times and love going to Cades Cove, Dixie Stampede Show and plan to go back to the aquarium. I just figured there have got to be other things that we may have missed out on. We love hiking & mountain views.
Please feel free to share favorite hiking trails, neat cities nearby etc!
Thanks bunches!

If you like to hike....thru the gatlinburg park entrance past Sugarlands Visitor Center, follow the road up to a parking lot pull off marked Laurel Falls. This is a fairly easy hike with awesome waterfalls at the end. In addition its neat cause you can see the forrest change from different kinds of trees and terrain, its pretty neat.
Then ifyou go thru downtown Gatlinburg and take a left at light 8 I believe it is, it will go back into the mountains and there are settlers cabins you can walk thru.
Past that is another trail ahead to Rainbow Falls, which is on Mt. LeConte, about a total 5.4 mile hike. This is strenuous but WORTH IT!!!!
We honeymooned and got married there in Februrary and we hiked it. It was the most beautiful falls and scenery ever. I mean it was so amazing!!
I hope you have a ball!!

Be sure to hit the Rainbow Falls trail. It's a good one. I pegged out halfway (asthma) but it was a lovely walk full of fantastic scenery. Some fellow hikers had a bear sighting!

I agree with all the posts so far. We've done all the things listed and they're great. Another thing to do is go to Ober Gatlinburg. I've never been there myself, but a friend of mine just went for a reunion. They have snowboarding and skiing (sp?) with fake snow and there is an ice skating rink. It might be worth googling to find out more info about.
The Old Mill is another restaurant worth trying. It's a little pricey, so you might want to google it as well.
There are some Indian reservations on the other side of the mountain in Cherokee, N.C.

Ober Gatlinburg is closed for the season now to skiing and boarding I assume. I am sure you can still ride the air tram to the top and the arcade and stuff. Great Views.
