    Default Travel Planning Online

For the last several years we have been doing our travel planning online. We have saved a lot of money doing that.

We just got back from an overnight trip for a job interview. DH booked the hotel online through Travelocity. We saved about 40%. I about dropped dead when I found out the regular price of the room. It was much nicer than we would have been able to afford at full price.

Over the years we have also saved money by purchasing tickets to attractions online before we go and have also done well purchasing package deals -- but you do have to do your research.

We also use the internet to get information about individual attractions before we arrive.

If you haven't tried the internet for vacation planning you might want to look at it. Anyone have any travel websites or online travel planning tips you want to share?

    Great info.
I plan all of our traveling this way. I try to go directly to
the source for the best deals. For example if I know I
want to stay at a particular hotel in a specific location
I'll check the site or call them for special deals and
    they usually have something available.

There are so many sites and I don't use a particular or
have a favorite one. I just try to track down the deals.

    Happy traveling!

We get a travel newsletter (email) or 3... We take advantage of a lot of those deals. Travelzoo is one, VacationsToGo (cruises) is another and ummmm....the last one eludes me. Last minute deals are a great way to take a very nice trip for very little $.

I always research and book my travel online. We don't vacation often, but sometimes we'll go away for a night or two.

I like www.kayak.com because it searches tons of travel sites all at once so you don't need to check each one (eg Expedia, Travelocity, Hotwire, Priceline and hotel chains)
