Valentine Cookies!
I just finished making 7 dozen cut-out heart cookies. I bet it's been a couple decades or more since I made rolled out, cut out cookies. They were a very rich butter dough that had to be rolled between wax paper sheets, refrigerated, cut, refrigerated again, and baked. And then I frosted all of them. Oh my, were they good! Half is going to my Bible study group, one fourth to my university class that I teach, and one fourth to my hubby for a Valentine's gift. He'll enjoy them with a little coffee
or a little milk. You know, I really enjoyed making this cookies. I filled every kitchen counter with cooling racks, frosting station, mixing area, and a place to roll out the dough.
Do you make cookies that take hours to do? This process from start to end took me 6 hours! Of course that included the fridge time.
Excuse me........ time for a cookie break!Spiritual:

I'm WAY too lazy to do all of that....but of course, when I worked in an office with a bunch of women, someone was always bringing homemade goodies and I LOVE eating them!!!
I am sure you will enjoy those cookies tremendously!!

Hmm, the ONLY cookie cutters I have are heart-shaped. I never make roll out cookies either and have never used these cookie cutters. Maybe now is the time!

I miss my pizzelle cookies!!!!
I remember making them when I was little and yes, we made them for hours because you could only make 2 at a time
I don't even know where I can get a pizzelle iron anymore!
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I bought a pizelle iron from Amazon a couple of years ago  I wish I had Dave's Nana's recipe. Mine never come out as good as hers did.

Yes please post the recipe if you can, forHisglory. I just found a roll out cookie dough recipe that I love upon the recommendation of yankeegal. I wonder if it's the same one. The one I make does taste more buttery than a traditional sugar cookie, and it holds its shape when baking so the details on the cookie cutters really show through.
I'd love to make cookies for Valentine's day for the kids, but I'm afraid I won't be able to resist them. I had a cookie incident yesterday that detoured me slightly

Funny you should bring this up. I was just looking at recipes for cut out cookies the other day. Thought I'd try a new one out of Paula Deens latest magazine made with cocoa.

Hey, you know what? I don't remember what I used for a recipe. I haven't made any roll out cookies since this bash last year! But I'll look around this weekend and see if I can find the recipe. I'd forgotten all about this post!
