Happy Almost Turkey Day! Tee hee

Wow, it warmed up to -9 this morning. That's without the wind chill, though. Brrr. So as usual I am hanging out cheering my woodstove on this morning!

The kids don't have school today, so I am going in to work early this morning and only working for 3 hours. My oldest dd will be watching them, but I don't want her whole day wasted by having to care for her siblings. Then ds has a bday party at 11:00. I'm hoping I can make it up their driveway. 95% of my kids' friends have homes that you need 4 wheel drive to access. Thankful mine isn't high up like everybody else's, I'd have died from a heart attack by now!

I was supposed to leave for fil's today after a vet appt. for one of our dogs, but I HATE driving in the dark, especially on roads that I'm not as familiar with. So dh is coming home to our house instead of meeting us there and we will drive as a family tomorrow morning. Yay, another night in our own beds, I love it!

It will be a busy one, and hopefully productive!

    Have a super day!
    -Vanessa

Sounds like a full day for you Vanessa!

My that soup we made last night was good, it's one of those soups that reminds you of something you think you can only get dining out and not make at home but alas you can & it's easy. Creamy goodness! I'm quoting this from yesterday's wfd thread because I hope you all give it a try.

On with today's happenings. Another day spent at home saving money and keeping house. I want to get the house in shape so I can just veg tomorrow. I've let things go the past week since I don't get around as well. Jack has helped but some things he doesn't do quite as thoroughly as I would. He's a sweetie to do as much as he does & I am truly thankful for that.
Easy dinner pulled from the freezer, just need to make a salad.
Wishing you all a goodness filled day!

Gonna do a little more cleaning today. Make sure all bathrooms are sparkly for the guests tomorrow. LOL! WHY do I do all of this when they are just gonna trash the place? LOL!

Going to the store to get some things in the house for after T-day (my sons will be here and they like to eat).

Thawing some of the 'goods', washing up some pans and slowcookers I need from the basement...

    The usual pre-Tday stuff.

Been home for a while now from DF's hospital visit to check on his ankle. He had his staples removed from surgery. We didn't sleep well last night despite going to bed around midnight (vs 2-3-4am like usual) b/c the pain was to great. The guy at the fracture clinic is a hoot, almost sadistic! Made our mornings. DF is now resting on couch with foot up, we have our coffees besides us and dad's curled up watching tv....I think we're going to have a quiet day

I need to pop out to grocery store later as well for a few things but nothing I can't live with out but I will have to go pick up my car from the shop. Emergency brake shoes seized up on me. Thats not something I'm happy to pay for

Will prob change bedsheets and toss a load of laundry in as well....all my plans went out the window due to shifting to DF's sleep schedule...all my timing is 'off'

I am trying to get about 4 hours of work in this morning before heading out early to get ready for Thanksgiving. I need to stop by the grocery store this afternoon to pick up ingredients for the cupcakes I need to make for T-day. That is about it for today, nothing too exciting!

    Have a great Wednesday, everybody!

I've been up and running since 7:30. I still have to go back into town and pick up a part for the seat in our Yukon. When DH's son and his wife used it to get married..someone stripped the handle to lay the middle seat forward. We are guessing they tried to lay the seat back. Of course no one will admit to doing it. It's all good though because they will never use one of our vehicles again and the part is only $6 and some change. I just got off of the phone with unemployment and will have to appeal. They are using last week as my waitning week when my waiting week was the week before, but the claim only starts when I file. Well I tried filing during my waiting week but couldn't, they made me fax the info on my new bank account number which happened to be the day before a holiday.GRRRRR!!!!! So now I'm not getting a check this week. Thank God for our savings. I won't be doing much to day, most of it will have to waint until tonight. I need to make the apple pie, and 5 cup salad for tomorrow, do some laundry, and run the sweeper in the bedroom. Hope your day is better than mine has been so far.

Pretty soon it'll be Thanksgiving for our American neighbours Hope you all have a safe and fun filled thanksgiving (we celebrate thanksgiving in Oct in Canada, I guess we're too impatient lol).

Last night for tightwad tuesday, I made hamburger helper and warmed up leftover mashed potatoes, just added garlic powder and topped it with cheese and it turned out great

As for tonight, I'll cook up a batch of perogies, ham, veggies or make ceaser salad and garlic bread. Sweep and mop floors again, scrub out tub and tidy up bathroom and bedroom. Not very exciting but it'll keep me busy lol Going to make the boys shovel the driveway and sidewalk, it was -25 C this morning, without the windchil...brrrrrr is right! lol

I've done some cleaning, laundry, cut my little ones hair, and need to make a casserole later. It's a dreary day out but it's pretty warm. 58 now but it looks worse.

I'm such a lucky girl....DH LOVES to make the Thanksgiving dinner, so he's in the kitchen making pies, stuffing, and getting brine ready for the turkey. We are taking turkey, stuffing, gravy and pies to his niece's house for t-day tomorrow and she is making all the sides.

Tonight I'm just going to take it easy, and then tomorrow I will work on homework while DH finishes up the meal. Our kitchen is too small for 2 people to work in anyway, so that will work out best for both of us.

    Have a great evening!!!

Yeehaw! Got a lot done today - had a visit with gf & lunch, took my car in to get fixed only to come home that it was half fixed...still waiting on call back from both service adviser and manager. Changed bed linens, carpet swept the floor, scrubbed the bathroom and now...going to do laundry soon

I'm proud of myself....I just went and got it done finally!
