    Smile Wet Wednesday

    ~It's dreary and rainy here today. I'm so glad I'm not hosting Thanksgiving here because I'm completely unmotivated. Hopefully I can accomplish the following today;
~make 2 pumpkin pies with DH
    ~Vacuum/dust/sweep/mop
    ~Sew another tote bag
    ~Fold and put away landry
    ~unload/load the dishwasher
    ~Make cookies
    ~Make candy
Fun Fun Fun. Maybe some music will get me going.~

It's a bright sunshiney, if a little bit chilly, day here. I've already been out & done my grocery shopping for the month. Surprisingly, the commissary on the day before Thanksgiving wasn't bad at all. Not as bad as it's been in year's past. But I got there early and was home w/ the groceries put away by 11:30am.

Today I need to do some laundry. I haven't done any in DAYS It's just not been at the top of my list. I also need to vacuum the downstairs and get the kids to pick up their crap all over the place.

I also need to get a bag ready to go to the inlaws tomorrow. It's a four hour drive, plus there's nothing for the kids to do once we get there so I have to pack stuff to occupy them. Oh and I need to call dh so he can pick up some dip on the way home from work. I forgot to get it at the commissary...

It's really just a gray day here. Not raining, and not really cold - just chilly.

    So far:
    *Showered and dressed
*Played with DS for an hour
    *Ate breakfast
*Worked more on cleaning oven (I use baking soda and it sticks around forever - takes me a few days to rinse it all off, LOL)
*Vacuumed for the first time in two months

I sure am glad that we're not entertaining tomorrow! DH ended up at work until 11:15pm last night - so he didn't get home until 12:30am. He went in late today (should be understandable!) and is going to try and get Friday off since he's worked late two days in a row (worked until 7pm on Tuesday - his normal hours are 8:30am-4:30pm).

The only thing I have left on my list today is to go to the liquor store. We're bringing a bottle of wine to dinner tomorrow, and I have a ton of beer bottles to return for deposit. People in my complex have parties and stack the empties back in the cardboard boxes and leave them next to the dumpster - I don't mind taking them back for $.05 each!

DH and I decided to go to Chinatown in Chicago this morning. What a great time we had. So many awesome shops (and the prices were great!), restaurants, etc and the weather was great too. 50 and sunny. I got some Buddhist prayer beads for $6.99, DH got a mini Buddha statue he wants to put on his desk at work for $1.49, picked up 2 bars of Sandlewood soap for MIL (she loves the stuff) 2 for $1.00 and my best find..... a beautiful bonsai tree for my son and DIL for Christmas. They've been wanting one for months. I've been searching the net for them but the cheapist I've been able to find is around $60 not including shipping. The one I bought today looks much nicer than what I've seen on the net and it was only $29.95 and no need for shipping

So far it's been a very good day!

Today went to work. Got a lot done. Tonight I am making the cranberry sauce, boiled onions. Have to hold off on the green bean casserole. The fried onion I bought on Saturday expired 4/06. So I will go tomorrow and be a pain. Other than that I am going to relax tonight.

It's been a beautiful, calm, sunny and warm day today.

Dd#2 was home today and had a dentist appt. for some braces related stuff.
We visited a friend for a few minutes and then went shopping for a little while. We had lunch and did some more shopping. Came home and started on the 3 pumpkin, 1 pecan and 2 cherry cheese cakes and pies. I also made the pink stuff salad (Darlene, if you're reading this I'm eating Jello again after 2 years :tongue sticking out smiley inserted here: ), relish dish, salad, and put the cranberry sauce in the dish to serve and popped it into the fridge. We're going out to eat mexican (our girls can't get enough of this mexican food) food and then do not a thing tonight.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day tomorrow.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
