Red face Help please, what to wear to wedding

Ok..I have shopped my little heart out searching for something appropriate ..and the best I could do was a brown flowery print baby doll type dress that has a lacey bottom hem..well not lacey ruffly

BUT I don't really have shoes to go with it..

so..my other option is some brown slacks with a silk top that has cute litte cap sleeves that are sheer..well anyways..it looks cute..

but is a pant outfit appropriate for a wedding? I am so distressed over this...if I don't wear the pants outfit then I need to find better shoes..either that or clean up a pair of cloggish type sandals that kind of go with it...

ok ..so basically would you or have you seen women wear pants outfits to weddings?

thanks!

at our wedding last year everyone wore pants. And a matter of fact my bosses daughter just got married 2 weeks ago and she wore pants, so yes they are fine. I personally think that as long as your comfortable wear it. (my boss not her daughter)..

I would wear the dress. When I think of weddings I think of a dress BUT I'm sure some women will wear pants.
It's your preference...you'll look pretty anyway!

There is nothing wrong with pants and a blouse, unless the invite dictates black tie. What time of the day is the wedding, where is the reception being held? The answer to these will answer your question. Remember you can't go wrong with simple and classic, avoid trendy.

thanks everyone!!

The wedding is at 2pm and the reception is in a community center..
I was thinking the pants would be great since i'll be chasing ayla a lot and probably bending a lot to pick her up ..
plus then i won't have to search for some shoes to go with my dress..

I just couldn't remember anyone at my wedding wearing pants and it's been a while since i went to one..thanks so much for all the replies

I'm going to an evening wedding in late-November and I am wearing a pant suit, so I think it would be very appropriate for an afternoon wedding.

Have fun.

I think it depends on how dressy the pants are. I personally would wear a dress or skirt--I'd rather be overdressed than underdressed. Just my two cents worth

the pants look like wool pants..only they are cotton so it doesn't itch They are also form fitting instead of loose.

well we are making one last run to the mall this morning so i have one last chance

ok one last question, is it 'ok' to wear a dress the color of *her colors? and are there any faux pas colors to wear in general? I'm sooo paranoid and i don't know why ok yeah i do my whole family is going to be there

I wouldn't wear her colors, you may be mistaken for a member of the party, and of course, no white. That's all I can think of.
