Default Pics from sons engagement party

These were taken before the party started for the most part. Her colors are pink and green. For the wedding they are going to be the soft pinks and greens so I did these a little brighter with black thrown in. I got the flowers from the dollar store and snipped them all off the stem and stuck them in a half round styrofoam ball. The little baskets were from the dollar store also I spray painted them black as well.

I made the cookies and put them in the bags. The strawberries are upside down the stem side on the bottom. I don't know if you can see it that well but on the dining room table is a fruit tray that is three levels The top is the top of a pineapple and there are grapes cascading down to each level with cut pineapple and strawberries.

The water bottles on the back porch serving bar are just regular water bottles with the label taken off and I cut and made new lables with scrap book paper that said congratulations with pink, green and orange ribbon tied on them.

It was a fun party and the first time we really got to show off the new kitchen.

Yes we had a good time! My ex-dh and his two kids (ds half brother and sister) and his gf came too. Ex-dh made some of the food for the party. He will be doing the food at the reception as well. He is an executive chef so he told ds he would be a tad bit upset if he was not doing the food. This is really one of the first times we have spent any amount of time together in a looooooooong time. We get along now though.

I tied to do the party as economical as possible. I cooked a few roasts and then shredded them for hot beef sandwiches, made a big thing of macaroni salad, I think there was cole slaw too. The fruit tray, and the desserts. Ex-dh did the appetizers. I made a big thing of homemade sangria that was a big it too. I had never made it before, I have to say that was not all that frugal. It did make several batches though.

Everything looks great. I swear I had a dress that I made in the 70's (high school) that the material looked just like the table cloth on your dining room table - lol!

Actually the one closest in the picture is the microwave. We picked and under the counter cabnet with two long drawers under it that I put my muffing tins, cookie sheets, rolling pins, and bread pans in. It is different having it there than over the stove or on the counter. It is working out well. and there is enough room on the sides to put several of my cookbooks.
