Ephesians 5: 23-24
5:23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
5:24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Matthew 19
19:4"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'
19:5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?
19:6So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
1 Corinthians 7
7:3The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.
7:4The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife.
Eph. 5:29-32
After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the Church-for we are members of His body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the Church.
Some thoughts on Christian marriage:

When the pastor spoke at our wedding, he didn't have a poem, and I don't think he even used scriptures (no video of the wedding, and 25 years has blurred my memory somewhat) He simply spoke of the vase symbolizing the home that we were creating, the white rose representing Christ- the only pure sacrifice and the head of the family, the taller red rose representing my husband as the head of the household, and the smaller red rose representing me- and both my dh and I covered in Christ's blood. He did a great presentation, but it's pretty much lost to memory now.
