Today my friends, I stood by (digital camera in one hand, tissue in the other) and watched as my oldest daughter married the love of her life. They chose a simple, civil ceremony in the chambers of the J.P. where they live. She picked out a lovely but simple dress from David's Bridal (look for my rant about that place later) and a dear florist friend made her bouquet as a special gift to her. We took pictures during the short and sweet ceremony and then went to a nice steak house where there was a small room reserved for us to eat, drink and make merry in. We did just that for a good while and we made good on our promise that was made tongue in cheek many, many years ago. That promise being 'you can either have a wedding or run off and have the money'. We (ok I) begged them not to run off as I had waited for 30 years to see her get married so they accomodated me on that one thing. We coughed up the money for the wedding which they'll use toward the down payment on their new home in a few weeks. I'm so happy that I can't tell you all and just wanted to share a picture or 2 with you. Please see the gallery link below.
It sounds like you had a wonderful day and your daughter looks radiant and happy. And the money will do much more good as a down payment than going towards an overpriced extravagant wedding.
Aww Lisa, so happy for the Newlyweds! Wishing them a happy happy life!Congratulations!
