Register with care dot com. It is a website where people go to find caregivers, housekeepers, nannies, etc.

If moving to SLC, UT, check out the KSL.com classifieds. It is one of the main news sites and the one with the best classifieds section attached to it. Look under houses - for the for rent stuff, sometimes people will put up "looking for a roommate/caretaker" type ad. Also check it out under the jobs section.

In my experience, out here, the Craigslist ads have been fairly straightforward and honest. You do have spammers offering huge houses for pennies but you can usually spot the fake ones pretty easy. So check out the Craigslist for Salt Lake as well under housing and jobs as well.

I currently live just south of Salt Lake and I use both of those resources.
