I saw this question earlier this morning and had nothing to add.....but I went outside to get something from our shed, and though today is BEAUTIFUL and warm outside, it has for the past several days been very windy. I looked down and in a pile of leaves was a $5.00 bill! I'll take free money anytime!!

Zicam samples and shampoo samples, grapefruit (from a local person). We're traveling so it's not the same as home. That's all I got that I can think of right now.

No, not kidding. I was shocked when we moved back to Alabama (thanks to the Air Force) after leaving at the end of 2000. Sales tax here is absurd. 10% on EVERYTHING. Food is no exception. I came from Va. most recently and theirs was 5% on all goods but food and that was 2.5%.

I mainly try to shop at the commissary on base with their surcharge of 5% and no sales tax. The base prices are much cheaper than off base.

Outside of the city the county tax is 6.5%. We have a Walmart and Home Depot in the county and if I need anything from those stores I try to go to those because of the lower tax.
