Poetry contest
Okay, I just posted a short story contest challenge and thought I'd throw one out for all you poets.
The general idea would be to give ourselves "x" number of days to write, then post the poem here and let the village vote on which one they like best.
Anyone willing to take the slings and arrows of outrageous opinion?
I'll wait until the end of this month to see if there is any interest. If so, I'll post the parameters of the challenge. As with the short story challenge, I ask only that you start from scratch, rather than dusting off the epic saga you wrote five years ago and have been polishing up ever since.DH aka Mad Hen

Well, I am definately not a writer, but I will keep this thread bookmarked so that I can keep up with those that are poets. I really like poetry, but have no talent. I am sure I will enjoy what others will submit. :

That's funny. I just wrote a poem. I think it's the first one since high school, which was back before the wheel was invented, or at least before rubber tires.
I hope this and the short story contest get off the ground. I love seeing when people come up with. There are a lot of talented people out there.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm in the same boat, SD, except my last poem is still in the "chiseled in rock" ages.

I am open to people who want to contribute anonymously, btw, in case you really can't make that last little leap into publicity. I know we have a lot of creative people who maybe just need that little nudge of self-confidence to step out of the shadows! Just PM me.

Okay, for all you closet poets, I am doing this to try to force myself to write more. Like any skill, you get better with practice.
That said, and seeing how you are all cowering behind your couches right now, I will post my first poem (and Dinah, you are welcome to also post yours) by August 15th. DH aka Mad Hen
