The Ultimate Box of Goodies!
My husband is beginning teaching at a new school this fall and is "jumping ship" from Social Studies to English, SO he needed books for his new classroom. My three boys and I went garage sale-ing and found TONS of used books ranging in price from 3 for $1 to $1 each (all very good buys!) So we loaded him up with new Literature books, anthologies, etc. Also, same sales, we found him several good as new polo shirts (paid $1 for one of them and 3 for $1 for 2 Tommy Hilfiger and 1 Polo polo shirts) We are not brand happy in the least, but this made it a little more special for him, a couple of ties (25 cents each for new condition silk ties!) and 2 Fathers Day Shirts (also at garage sales!)He had a blast opening his huge box of goodies! And WE spent about $8 on all of that! Some people think "used" is tacky.We are happy to re-use items, save the $ for something else. I wouldn't give a used gift for a baby shower or bridal shower or anniversary gift (unless its to my husband, we have an understanding, HA!) but in some instances... the excellent quality of gifts that you can find at tag sales shouldn't be dismissed! --submitted by anonymous
