Day 4 sourdough starter
I posted earlier about how I was a bit concerned this morning because it smelled pretty yeasty. LOL I'm happy to report that by 5pm, I saw some liquid rise to the top of the starter. This is great news. This is the "hooch" they speak of to look for.
I simply mixed the "hooch" back into the starter, took out a cup of starter and dumped it into the sink, and fed the starter more flour and bottled spring water. I also transferred containers to prepare it for fridge storage soon. I then recovered it with a damp papertowel and set it back on the counter.
I notice now that the yeasty sour smell has mellowed too.

 

 

Day 4
Mixed with a wooden spoon and added flour and bottled spring water early morning. Recovered with papertowel. Then mixed the "hooch" into the starter in the evening. Then took out a cup of starter and dumped it into the sink. Then fed the starter more flour and bottled spring water. Recovered. Placed on counter.
