Cool Down with These Frozen Summer Treats

The summer is the perfect time to spend the day outdoors with family and friends, but things can get pretty hot if you’re outside all day. It is important to stay hydrated, but sometimes you want something refreshing that is a little more satisfying than water. If you’re looking for a fun and tasty way to cool down this summer, try making some of these frozen summer treats.

1. 1-Ingredient Ice Cream

For this recipe, all you need is frozen bananas! Simply take a few ripe bananas and slice them into coins then freeze the coins on a plate until solid. Throw them in a food processor and add your choice of flavorings like cocoa powder, honey, or cinnamon then blend until smooth. Then, just spoon the ice cream into bowls and top with your favorite toppings!

2. Sangria Slush

If you’re looking for something that will give you a good buzz while also cooling you down, try this sangria slush. Simply pour a bottle of sweet, fruity wine into an ice cube tray and then freeze overnight until solid. Throw the ice cubes in a food processor the next day with some fresh fruit juice and blend until slushy. Serve in cocktail glasses with fresh fruit.

3. Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

There’s no better way to take advantage of a sale on your favorite ice cream than to turn it into cookie ice cream sandwiches. Let the ice cream melt a little but until it is soft enough to spread on a cookie then add another cookie on top. Roll the cookie sandwiches in sprinkles or mini chocolate chips then throw them back in the freezer until firm. Enjoy!

4. Fruity Granita

Another simple frozen treat you can make in just about any flavor is granita. Start by combining 4 cups of fruit with ¼ cup of sugar in a food processor and blend until pureed. Add a few tablespoons of water or fruit juice and blend until smooth then spread in a shallow pan. Freeze the mixture for about 30 minutes then give it a stir with a fork. Freeze again for a total of 4 hours, stirring every thirty minutes to break up the frozen bits. That’s it!

5. Frozen Yogurt Fruit Pops

To make healthy frozen yogurt fruit pops, all you need is 2 containers of plain nonfat Greek yogurt, 2 cups of fresh fruit, and some honey to taste. Blend all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth then pour them into popsicle molds, ice cube trays, or small paper cups. Freeze solid and then enjoy them! You can try this recipe with your favorite blend of fruit or make separate batches and freeze them in layers for a colorful and tasty treat.

These are just a few of the delicious and refreshing ideas you can try this summer. The best thing about them is that they are made with healthy and wholesome ingredients, so you don’t have to feel bad about indulging. Enjoy!
